im suggesting revelation was not for us today but to the seven churches in minor asia.
they 1st centruy faithful ones were waiting for the promised return of messiah, like he promised them.
he did in fact return on the lcouds to take them to heaven.

the true church is one not made by human hands it cannot be seen or touched nor is it made with bricks and mortar.
it is a living breathing entity made up of believers in messiah.
all earthly representations of it are counterfeit and a delusion to stop you from entering into the new spiritual covenant started after the destruction of jerusalem and the temple in 70ad.
is there a connection between bad grammar/punctuation and religious fundamentalism?
i am not.
everyone makes mistakes..
i always was embarrased when i was a child. i am not embarrased now because it wasn't my fault. i would be embarrased if i would have joined the religion as an adult, i never - even when still a JW - could understand people who would convert.
like simon said, it often makes for a good conversation. JWs around here can't pioneer enough to make up for my anti-witnessing
i have a technical/bureaucratical question for anyone in germany who has experience with this.. the background is, i got baptised as a jw as a teenager in germany, then moved to the us, where i daed.. from my research on the internet, i seem to understand, that when you get baptised in germany, they inform the appropriate authority depending on the state you live in, in bavaria this would be the "standesamt".
is that correct?
or does one have to do this by oneself?
servus.
did you marry in germany? otherwise the only document where a religion may be listed is your birth certificate. since you were baptized later (were/are your parents JWs?) and most probably didn't supply that info to the standesamt, especially since JWs weren't an official religion back then (i suppose), there shouldn't be any files on your religious background anywhere.
in any case, the standesamt would indeed be the place to get more info on the issue.
get rich
i've been in need of a new laptop for a long time.
no, i mean it - a really long time.
the old dell that we have has a floppy lid and is woefully underpowered although it does build up my upper body strength every time i pick it up.. the last 6 months has been a bad time to buy something new though with the haswell processors on the horizon promising better battery life and also screen technology seems to have been leaping ahead recently to a new hi-dpi standard.. so apple finally released their mac book pro and at the same time dell has released an xps 15 ultrabook which looks like a pretty good alternative and probably better 'value'.. pro's and con's?
my main workhorse is a macbook pro 15" pre-retina, but with upgraded screen. osx is great, because it's got unix under the hood, so people like me who spend most of the time in a terminal feel comfortable. i use linux on servers, used it for quite a while on desktops as well (mostly debian/ubuntu based distros). and i'm not religious about it, using windows 7 and 8 on some computers for different projects too.
you can't go wrong either way. dell xps are nice, asus is nice, i'll throw in samsung as well. macs are considered too expensive by many, but once you got one, you know it's worth every penny.
i was speaking to a group of uber-dubs over the weekend, and one of them was mentioning no-nonse policies at bethel, one of them being the monitoring of website visits.. he was saying that you had to 'freedom' to do certain things, like use the internet, but if you visited "the wrong websites" you would face consequences.
he mentioned the case of a brother who visited the "wrong website" a few days in and was immediately sent home.. can anyone shed ****new light**** on this?
:-).
that's what the tor network was invented for. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onion_routing
i think it should go elsewhere due to the human rights issues and putin's regime.. i swear, modern russia is the personification of watchtower, homophobic, xenophobic, dare to question...go on...you questioned?
awww ....gulag!.
press saying bad things?
boycotts don't help. better go there and publicly meet with human rights groups and endorse them.
